SPAR North Rand, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd., is recruiting for an Accounts Payable Controller

Job description


  • To supervise and ensure accurate and timeous reconciliation and capturing of invoices.
  • Review monthly, weekly and daily payments
  • Distribute reports to the team
  • Check and sign adjustment
  • Ensure documentation is appropriately captured by the team
  • Ensure that all set objectives are met (individual and team)
  • Set performance targets for staff and ensure that they are executed
  • Prepare daily balancing reports
  • Assist with month-end reporting
  • Prepare Cash forecasting for the team
  • Ensuring that all supplier queries are followed up timeously
  • Updating creditors ledgers with reconciled amounts
  • Maintain and conduct grievance and disciplinary procedures when required
  • Manage staff performance and facilitate team development
  • Monitor, analyse, and effectively manage staff attendance and absenteeism
  • Ensure the health of the creditor’s ledger


Minimum requirements


  • Diploma/Degree in Financial Management
  • High level of numeracy
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory role
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Computer skills necessary – Microsoft word/excel
  • Administrative orientation (enjoy administrative work)
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential
  • The ability to work as part of the team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
  • Previous reconciling experience would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of the SPAR Creditors system would be advantageous
  • SAP experience would be advantageous
